What is reflexology?

ReflexologyReflexology is an art, a science and a skill that deals with the principle that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands, which correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body.

The feet can be seen as a mirror of the whole body. Pressure is applied to the relevant reflex areas on the feet using both specific thumb and finger techniques. This causes physiological changes to take place in the body, since the body’s own healing potential is stimulated. Thus bringing back a sense of balance and harmony.

Did you know?
When applying pressure to the reflexes on the feet, the body produces its own painkillers, known as endorphins, which are five to ten time more powerful than morphine.

Origins

The ancient art of reflexology appears in several forms among many cultures including Egypt, China, Russia and Japan. Inscriptions depicting foot and hand massage were found in an Egyptian physician’s tomb dating back to 2330 BC
